  • Description : Orchestradventure! will reach 2,500 schoolchildren across Wales over the next two years

Overview

  • The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (RWCMD) has received funding from the Arts Council of Wales and the Prince of Wales' Charitable Foundation to produce a new project to inspire children to engage with classical music: Orchestradventure! and Orchestradventure on Tour!

Consisting of specially devised workshops and large-scale concerts presented by the RWCMD Symphony Orchestra and broadcaster and presenter, Tom Redmond, the project will reach around 2,500 5-15-year-old schoolchildren across Wales over the next two years. It follows a successful pilot concert in February 2017 when Orchestradventure! played to 1,200 children in St David's Hall, Cardiff.

In addition, Orchestradventure! will integrate outreach activity into the RWCMD's undergraduate music degree course, giving music students the opportunity to gain valuable education skills.

Partners include WNO (Welsh National Opera), BBC Now and Sinfonia Cymru.
