  • The International Youth Choir Festival (IYCF) has announced details of its conference schedule.

    The festival, which takes place over the Easter weekend, features a daytime conference for choral leaders, music teachers and singers and two evening concerts featuring youth choirs from the UK, USA, South Africa, Israel, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Norway and Latvia.

    The conference programme includes workshops and seminars led by a range of presenters, including IYCF choir conductors and experts in vocal tuition, as follows:

    • Sounds and Skills – sponsored by Music Teacher magazine: Discover authentic performance techniques for African songs, Gospel music and mash-ups… and how to get your choir moving and dancing!
    • Rep Lab: Explore the best new music specially written for young voices from Peters Edition, Oxford University Press and Friday Afternoons
    • Choral Champions 1: Get inspired by our IYCF choirs and guests who'll be explaining how their work changes lives and communities
    • Choral Champions 2: Learn to become a choral champion with guidance from leaders who've created outstanding singing projects and programmes from scratch
    • Voiceworx: Expert workshops on vocal techniques and training for young and developing voices
    • Innovation Station – sponsored by New networking tools for choirs, teaching apps and resources to help pupils with SEND

    In addition, the IYCF Expo will run throughout the day, featuring products and programmes from leading publishers and education providers and the launch of Musicstage's new sister site,, a platform for choirs and the choral sector.

    The International Youth Choir Festival is presented by NYCGB (National Youth Choirs of Great Britain) and the Royal Albert Hall and takes place at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday 15 April and at the Southbank Centre on Monday 17 April 2017.
