OpenUp Music empowers young disabled musicians to build inclusive youth orchestras. Together we develop accessible musical instruments and repertoire, challenge expectations and forge new progression routes through the creation of great music.
Open School Orchestras
Open School Orchestras (OSO) is a growing national movement, designed to support Music Education Hubs, arts organisations and schools in providing SEN/Disabled young people with opportunities to play in ensembles and to perform.
Our OSO Resource Packs include everything you need – adapted musical repertoire, schemes of work and a new generation of accessible musical instruments that young people can take home to practise on – all underpinned by a package of high quality training and technical support.
The South-West Open Youth Orchestra
The South-West Open Youth Orchestra is the UK’s only disabled-led regional youth orchestra. Delivered in partnership with musicians from the internationally renowned British Paraorchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and the Bristol Music Trust, we are currently searching for more young musicians to join this pioneering group. If you have a passion for music making and want to show the world what you can do, then the South-West Open Youth Orchestra might just be for you!
If you want to learn more check out this short film to hear from one of our existing #SWOYO members, Bradley Warwick. Bradley joined the South-West Open Youth Orchestra in September 2015 and plays a very special musical instrument we have created for him – an instrument he can play with his eyes!
