About the London Saxophone School

What is the London Saxophone School?

The London Saxophone School (LSS) is rapidly growing as ‘the place’ for students of any level to focus on the study of the saxophone. Unique of its kind, LSS welcomes students from age 9 onwards regardless of the initial level, providing top-level instruction to all: from complete beginners, amateurs, professionals, students preparing for exams, college admissions and auditions. All lessons are personalised and the repertoire studied varies from student to student, whether classical or jazz.

LSS offers 1-to-1 lessons, group classes for adults, online lessons, lessons for kids and the opportunity to perform in student concerts. Regardless of your level or previous experience, our mission is to help you acquire solid fundamentals and make you aware of how to improve your playing and develop it further.

Who is the founder?

Saxophonist and composer, Martino Scovacricchi, is the founder of LSS. He explains:

'The London Saxophone School is my educational project here in the UK. I started the London Saxophone School to enable saxophone players of any background and experience to make music together, providing high quality tuition in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.

'I have been teaching saxophone for more than 10 years bringing a wealth of experience in teaching to all sorts of levels, amounting to about 12,000 hours. I have performed at venues such as the Southbank Centre, Ronnie Scotts, Harvard University and played alongside artists such as Peter Erskine and Hermeto Pascoal. I hold a Postgraduate in classical saxophone from the Royal Academy of Music coupled with the LRAM teaching certificate, a 2-year certificate in jazz saxophone from the Berklee College of Music and Bachelor of Music from the Conservatory of Torino.

'I studied with saxophonists Shannon LeClaire, Dino Govoni, Richard Addison, Pietro Marchetti, Massimo Mazzoni, Vincent David, Roberto Manzin and Martin Speake. As a composer I released my album of original compositions for saxophone entitled ‘Melancolia Feliz’ in 2013, I have worked on commissions for the renowned English bassoonist John Orford, the National Museum of Cinema of Turin, Discovering Latin America Film Festival (DLAFF), Odense Filmværksted Productions, Press TV Documentaries, Mad Dogs Films. Teachers and mentors include Conrad Pope and Christopher Young, distinguished Hollywood orchestrators/composers, respectively. I consider sharing my musical knowledge a must-mission as a musician, hence I am full committed and passionate about teaching. I am here to help you achieve whatever your musical goals are.'
